About me assignment 1

I love animals. When I was a little girl I always wanted a cat. Now I love dogs too and over the years I have had a few, but my main love is my 15 year old cat, Bejaux.
Bejaux is an orange and white, long haired domestic male. People often say he looks like Garfield. He has a personality all his own. His behavior is very much like that of a dog, in that he will come when he is called and speaks on command. Bejaux has been by my side through some very rough times in my life including divorce and the death of both of my parents. He brings me comfort and gives me unconditional love.
About five years ago now, my beloved pet was diagnosed with diabetes. Many people didn’t know that cats or even dogs could develop such a disease and of course I was devastated. After going to the vet and doing research, I found that he could live a normal life with the help of insulin and close supervision of his behaviors. I had also found that I could do the blood testing at home just like a human does to make sure we were on track with his dosage and feedings. My only worry now was, what am I to do when or if I have to go out of town? Who would take care of a diabetic cat?
Most people would say, just take him to the veterinarian. They know what they are doing and if something happens they are right there. Now this fact is true, but I had found in my research that putting an animal whether it is a dog or a cat at a veterinarians’ office for boarding or at any boarding kennel would bring up the animals anxiety level which in turn could raise its blood sugar level. Since we had worked so hard at getting him on track, I didn’t want to see him go through another episode.
So I decided to start my own company. This company would be a pet sitting service for people who wanted or needed to go out of town but didn’t want to take their animals to the vet or a boarding kennel. I would train each employee how to help animals with diseases such as diabetes or ringworm that could not be boarded. It was a slow start but I have since expanded my business not just for vacation pet care but also dog walking and pet taxi service.
The love I have for my cat started it all. I have found over the years that other people have a strong bond for their pets as well. I hope that my story inspires others not to give up just because their pet is sick. They can live a long and health life. They have been with you through the tough times in your life, be there for the tough times in their life.
